Using Barbieri

Barbieri tools are not directly listed among spectrophotometer in Coraye. But there is still a way to work with it. Let's see how.

All the process is based on importing/exporting data through the CGATS file format.

1. Create your chart

You don't need to create a new chart with "Chart Generator" each time you have to use Gateway. You can use always the same chart. But il should be interesting to create four different chart with their data

  • RGB Calibration chart

  • RGB Characterization chart

  • CMYK Calibration chart

  • CMYK Characterization chart

On Coraye create your target following the process described in Creating a media profile. But this time, instead of directly clicking on "Next" button, click on "Export Barbieri".

Export the created chart with the Barbierie option

You should then have a ti1 file that is indeed a CGATS file. You can rename it to .txt instead of .ti1.

2. Open the Barbieri chart Generator application

Browse to select the CGATS file created by Coraye

Select the Barbieri spectrophotometer model and the paper size to print the chart .

Click on "Save Target" to create the chart and associated data.

Data and Chart to print are stored into the "Target" folderThe default path is ../User/.../Documents/Barbieri/Gateway/Chart/Targets/

3. Print the Barbieri chart

Follow the tutorial : Printing Chart

4. Mesure the Barbieri chart with the "Gateway" software

Launch the Gateway Software and create a new job

You don't need to create a new "Job" each time you have to use Gateway. You can use always the same job.But il should be interesting to create four different job for:

  • RGB Calibration chart

  • RGB Characterization chart

  • CMYK Calibration chart

  • CMYK Characterization chart

Click on the "Customised" folder

Select the Barbieri target created previously with "Chart Generator".

Define the measurement settings

Define the file settings

When the job was created, double click on it to start the reading procedure.

Check the chart definition

Check the measurement settings

Install the holder with the printed chart on the Barbieri spectrophotometer.

Clic "Start" to start the measure.

At the end of measurement, measured Data are stored into the "Measurements" folder

The default path is ../User/.../Documents/Barbieri/Gateway/Chart/Measurements/ You can access to this folder with the "Browse..." button.

5. Export the CGATS file to Coraye

Coraye use the .cie CGATS files to create an ICC profile.

Now click on "Import a reading" into the Calibration or Characterization procédure and browse to get the CGATS file created by The Gateway software (.CIE)

Then Follow the procedure to create your icc profile with Coraye
